If you are looking for a home acclimated, friendly, playful, active greyhound, please consider Jessie (also known to her foster mom as "Jezebel" for your family. She has a beautiful, shiny deep black, only a little over 60 lbs., and is used to living with cats and other dogs. She goes to the dog park regularly and loves it. She also walks very nicely on a leash and is a good traveler, riding very well in the SUV. A few months ago, we noticed a lump forming on one of Jessie's toes and had that toe amputated. The toe has completely healed and it does not hinder Jessie from running and playing. In fact, many greyhounds have toes amputated from racing injuries and after the toe has healed, continue racing. The pathology on the lump on Jessie's toe showed that is was malignant. We had our vet do a chest X-ray to make sure the malignancy had not spread, and Jessie's lungs were clear. In an abundance of caution, we chose to do some chemotherapy just in case any of the cells had spread. Jessie has now completed the four treatments recommended by the vet, and has come through it beautifully. She looks wonderful, is a good weight, and should have a healthy, happy life as a pet. Jessie loves people, and wants to be with you, but is not an "in your face" type of a dog. She is content to lie near you while you are working around the house, on the computer or watching TV. She is smart and wants to please you,making her an easy dog to train. She will come when you call her, and has excellent house mananers. Jessie has such am outgoing personality that she would do well as a therapy dog to go to schools, hospitals, and assisted living facilities. Jessie is quite active for a greyhound, so she will need a home that likes a more active and playful type personality. . Jessie is currently living in a foster with 2 other dogs and 3 cats. She is playful and enjoys having the other dogs for company. Jessie has an allergy to fleas, so it is important that she have flea medication that works well, such as Advantage II, Advantage Multi, Trifexis, or Comfortis. She may also need Benadryl during certain times of the year, (as many of us do), and we recommend giving her some Omega 3 (fish oil) daily to maintain her beautiful, shiny hair coat.

Jessie's $250 adoption fee includes her spay, teeth cleaning, all vaccines, Bordetella (to protect against kennel cough), microchip, leash and collar, adoption guide, grooming mitt, and stuffie toy.
